Q: What is the exhibition about?
A: Hadron Collider: step inside the world’s greatest experiment, the renowned Large Hadron Collider Exhibition from the Science Museum, London celebrates the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator.
The award winning exhibition recreates the largest scientific experiment ever constructed. Buried deep under the border between Switzerland and France, CERN’s Large Hadron Collider is the work of 10,000 men and women from across the globe, united in their quest to uncover the fundamental building blocks of our universe.
It was at the Hadron Collider at CERN, Switzerland in 2012 that the Higgs boson was discovered, capturing the public’s imagination like few other scientific endeavours of the past 50 years.
Q: What is the structure of the exhibition?
A: The exhibition has the following components:
- Multimedia experience
- 15 minute film Introducing CERN
- Visitors 'travel the tunnel' of CERN down to see the Large Hadron Collider
Q: Will the exhibition be travelling to any other cities in Australia?
A: The exhibition has travelled to MAAS and then Brisbane is the last Australian venue.
Q: What additional programming will support the exhibition?
There will be three After Dark events:
- 9 December 2016
- 3 February 2017
- 3 March 2017
There will be two Curator Talk events on Saturday 10 December and 11am and 1.30pm
